NYPD: Pedestrian fatally struck on Washington Bridge

Authorities say the victim was a man in his 50s who had been walking across the bridge when a Nissan SUV struck him at around 12:30 a.m.

A man died after police say he was hit by a car early Tuesday morning on the Washington Bridge.
Authorities say the victim was a man in his 50s who had been walking across the bridge when a Nissan SUV struck him at around 12:30 a.m. He was then taken to a hospital and pronounced dead.
The 25-year-old man driving the SUV was on his way to Manhattan at the time of the incident. Police say he remained at the scene to cooperate with officers and take a sobriety test.
The driver has not been charged with any wrongdoing. Authorities say the cause of the crash is under investigation.
