A pedestrian is fighting for his life following a hit-and-run in Kingsbridge Heights Monday morning.

Police say the suspected driver flew down Jerome Avenue, hit a pedestrian and kept on driving around 6 a.m.

Surveillance video shows the driver traveling southbound on Jerome Avenue when they hit a pedestrian who appears to be pushing a grocery cart. The driver fled the scene. The pedestrian suffered trauma to his head and body, police say.

First responders rushed him to St. Barnabas Hospital where he is currently listed in critical condition.

It remains unclear at this time if the injured pedestrian was struck in the pedestrian crosswalk. The case is still under investigation.
