The New York Police Department is getting ready for its fifth Operation Sleigh Ride, which will distribute toys to many kids in the city.
Next week, the sleigh ride will go across all five boroughs. In previous years, the sleigh ride took on Brooklyn North, but is now part of the community affairs unit.
With the pandemic comes some changes to the event. Instead of arriving to crowds of waiting kids, the NYPD will stop at shelters and give the gifts directly to children who need them most.
The superheroes will also be there.
More than 40,000 toys were donated by the New York City Police Foundation and the First Responders Foundation.
