The NYPD released new details about a shooting that injured two men inside a Wendy’s restaurant in Fordham Heights.
Police have not released the victims’ names, but officials said a 26-year-old man was shot in the chest and back. A 27-year-old man was shot in the arm and thigh.
The victims were taken to an area hospital, where they are recovering, according to authorities.
One woman who said she was a Wendy’s employee told News 12 that her son, who was also an employee, hid inside of a freezer for safety.
The shooting comes days after NYPD Commissioner Jessica Tisch held a news conference and said shootings are down citywide compared to this time last year.
“I am proud to report January, February and March saw the lowest number of shootings incidents of any quarter in recorded history,” Tisch said. “Shootings are down in every borough, and they were down 23 percent compared to last year.”
The Wendy’s was back open on Sunday, according to an employee by phone, but only for mobile orders and not for dine-in customers.
As of Sunday evening, police said no arrests have been made.
Officials said they’re still searching for two men on mopeds, one wearing a blue sweater with flowers on it and the other wearing a black puffer jacket.
