NYPD says 47 police vehicles damaged amid tense standoffs with protesters

The demonstrations for George Floyd, an unarmed black man killed by a white police officer during an arrest, have left police cars torched and objects strewn about during heated confrontations between the NYPD and protesters.

The demonstrations for George Floyd, an unarmed black man killed by a white police officer during an arrest, have left police cars torched and objects strewn about during heated confrontations between the NYPD and protesters.
Police say 47 cruisers were vandalized Saturday. News 12 crews saw objects being thrown around the crowd of protesters, some whom were taken away in handcuffs.
Police say they made more than 300 arrests during the protests, and that more than 30 police officers were injured.
In a press conference this morning, the mayor said religious institutions, as well as private and public property, were damaged. He says most of the violence took place in parts of Brooklyn and southern Manhattan.
