Dozens of police officers were spotted at the intersection of Rockaway Parkway and Shore Parkway, where the NYPD says suspects fled eastbound on the Belt Parkway, firing their guns at NYPD officers.
Police say that no people were struck by the gunfire.
Members of the FDNY were on scene to respond, and the FDNY says they have taken six police officers to Kings County Hospital. The condition of those officers is unknown at this time.
The incident took place at approximately 2 p.m., very close to the Bayview Houses in Brooklyn. One neighbor says he heard gunshots before seeing a black Mercedez-Benz car drive away.
“I heard two shots, and I was looking down at my phone. But once I heard those two shots, I heard them zooming off,” said Von Allen Jr., a resident of Bayview Houses. “They were shocked that it happened, and I was too. It was out of the blue.”
The NYPD says those stopped in the vehicle were wanted for a previous crime. No arrests have been made.
