Saturday was the first day that volunteers, local officials and
the NYPD started working together to clear graffiti from the city.
New Yorkers can submit locations that are in need of cleaning
and local precincts will organize with local groups to clean and paint over
graffiti.
Police officials say that graffiti can change the perception
of a neighborhood and potentially lead to more crime.
The NYPD also says it received more than 6,000 complaints
about graffiti in 2020.
Anyone who knows a location that can use some cleaning up can
email the NYPD at
