Just a few weeks after hundreds of additional officers were deployed
into the city’s subway system overnight the NYPD says transit crime has seen a big drop citywide. The data is from last month compared to this time last year.
In the Bronx, there has been a 21% decrease in transit crime to date. This time last year there were 38, this year there are 30.
This comes after Gov. Kathy Hochul's plan
to deploy more than 700 officers to stations across the city, including two police officers on every train overnight.
