Police are warning residents in Pelham Bay of an uptick in car tire thefts.
Police released surveillance video of thieves stealing tires and rims from cars in the Pelham Bay section of the Bronx.
The incident comes as the fourth of its kind in recent months and was reported to police on Dec. 26.
Police say the men seen in the video left the car suspended on milk crates after stealing its tires.
At least four other cars had their tires removed in the area of Hollywood, Crosby, LaSalle and Zulette avenues, according to Egidio Sementilli, president of the Community Improvement Organization.
Sementilli wants law makers in New York to pass a bill that would force auto makers to add a unique identification code to tires and rims, similar to a VIN.
Police say they are investigating the thefts.
