A New Yorker who dedicated her life to serving the city and the NYPD was remembered Friday night in Brooklyn.
Auxiliary Police Lt. Shirley Ohlgren was the longest serving auxiliary police officer in the NYPD. She served the department for more than 69 years before passing away at the age of 94 on Nov. 12.
At the time of her passing, she was still serving the department as a lieutenant within the 68th Auxiliary Police Unit - serving Bay Ridge and Dyker Heights.
Funeral services will be held Saturday.
