An off-duty police officer has died after a motorcycle accident in Schuylerville.

An off-duty police officer has died after a motorcycle accident in Schuylerville.
News 12 is told the crash happened around 8:15 a.m. at the intersection of Waterbury and East Tremont avenues.
Police say 56-year-old Michael McGrath was headed south on East Tremont Avenue when he collided with a dump truck turning left on Waterbury Avenue.
 
McGrath was a member of the NYPD for nearly 30 years, commanding officer of the Police Cadet Corps and a part an NYPD internship program for college students looking for a career in law enforcement.
 
Eyewitnesses say that the off-duty officer was pinned underneath the wheels of the truck. He was transported to NYC Health + Hospitals/Jacobi, where he was pronounced dead.
Police tell News 12 the truck driver stayed on the scene.
