The Bronx NYPD officer who suffered a bullet wound while responding to a fight earlier this month checked out of the hospital Thursday.
A fellow officer's stray bullet struck Sherrod Stuart in the ankle while he chased a suspect away from a brawl at 2505 3rd Ave.
News 12 previously reported that police arrested Christopher Rice, 19, in connection with the incident. They accused him of firing multiple shots into a crowd and aiming his gun at officers as they responded to the scene.
Stuart's family has a history in law enforcement.
As he left the Manhattan hospital, he held up a photograph of his uncle, Port Authority Officer Walwin Stuart, who died in the Sept. 11, 2001 terror attacks.
