Dozens of police officers, community leaders and clergy members came together in Bed-Stuy Wednesday night to discuss issues in the community after a mass shooting left one person dead and several others injured. 

Patrol Borough Brooklyn North set up its mobile command center at the location where seven people were shot on Nov. 22 at a party. 

Six of those victims, all teenagers, were injured according to police. Police say a 20-year-old woman from Virginia was killed.

Dozens of police officers and members of the community came out as part of an outreach effort to discuss issues with gun violence affecting young people. 

They blocked off the street and invited young people to be part of the conversation. Youth coordination officers, which were put in place earlier this year, hosted the meet-and-greet at the site where the shooting happened. 

They’re encouraging young people to get involved in bettering their neighborhoods- in recruiting others to keep them off the streets. Leaders from the NYPD say after tragedies like this, it’s important for people to feel like the department is working with them. 

Leaders of the NYPD say that shooting was so horrible and destructive to this community, that this needs to be a turning point. 

They want to make sure something like this never happens again.
