Newark Beth Israel Hospital is back to normal Friday after violence erupted at the hospital in the morning. Three employees - two nurses and a medical resident, were slashed by a visitor to the hospital, according to officials.
The incident took place just before 7 a.m. in the pediatric intensive care unit at the hospital on Lyons Avenue in Newark.
Hospital administrators say that a domestic dispute started up between two visitors who are related to one another and then it turned violent. A 37-year-old woman was quickly taken into custody.
Firdousi Abdul-Hakim is charged with aggravated assault and weapons possession.
The victims were treated for minor injuries. Newark Police have not revealed what Abdul-Hakim allegedly used as a weapon.
The hospital was on a divert status in the emergency department for a time.
News 12 is also waiting to hear about what exactly provoked that attack on the employees.
