For the second year in a row, the Department of Environmental Protection is opening the doors to the Jerome Park Reservoir, but not for long.
The gates were opened this weekend, and Bronx residents were allowed to take a two-mile tour around the water source.
The DEP says the rare event comes at the request of residents who have asked for more open access.
The water inside the preserve is carried out to the Croton Water Filtration Plant, where it is treated into drinking water.
Cellphone and bags were checked in at the door in a continuing effort to secure the premises.
The reservoir will be open Sunday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
