To prepare for the impending wintry weather Sunday and Monday, city officials say they’re making sure the roads are as safe as possible.
The Department of Sanitation says it's prepared to combat the first storm this season. Across the city, over 700 trucks will be spreading salt.
Officials want to make sure that if snow begins to fall, it melts quickly so traffic isn't significantly impacted. They are also encouraging people to take mass transit to work on Monday, so there are less cars on the slick roads.
The storm is coming when many are traveling home from the Thanksgiving holiday. Travelers are being warned to try to get home before bad weather hits, and to plan for extra travel time and drive slowly and safely.
