Reports show that some furry friends are not big fans of the trademark sounds of Independence Day.

The American Humane Association also reports that the day after July 4 is the busiest for animal shelters, because many panicked dogs escape and run away.
New Beginning Animal Rescue in the Bronx recommends distracting dogs with other sounds from the television, radio or air conditioner. They also recommend keeping dogs inside with the blinds shut.
Officials also suggest making a safe space for dogs indoors to prevent incidents near barbecue grills.
