While shortages were a concern during the dockworker strike along our shores, News 12 visited businesses see if there was any impact.

Nick Ferreira, manager at Ideal Food Basket, said it was business as usual.

“I spoke to the produce manager, he sees a little change but nothing drastic. I see things normal right now as we speak,” said Ferreira.

Gov. Kathy Hochul said New Yorkers did not need to panic buy.

“People do not need to run out to the grocery store and stockpile like they did during the pandemic,” said Hochul.

Many people News 12 spoke to, like Mel, took that advice.

“I’m not really worried about it I’ll make sure I got some stuff, I can survive,” said Mel.

Mel also added the situation could change quickly.

“We’re good for right now, but if the strike continues for a month or so, then we have problems,” said Mel.
