Parents say an intersection in Morris Park is congested and dangerous.
During rush hour, the intersection at Fowler and Van Nest avenues is busy, especially with schools nearby and one located just down the block.
News 12 witnessed students and parents bobbing and weaving to get through traffic to get to school on time.
Parents say they've witnessed people run stop signs and speed down the road.
According to
city data, four people have been injured due to traffic crashes around the perimeter of the school block.
Parents say a crossing guard during those rush hour times could be a solution.
Currently, there is a crossing guard located just one block down, but parents say its not enough.
"I think around the whole school, they need them." said Paulette, a local resident and parent.
After News 12 's inquiry, Jeremy Warneke, the district manager of Community Board 11, said the Department of Transportation will conduct two safety studies.
One will consider adding a four-way stop sign, while the other would look at traffic light shades, known as louver shades, to help curb speeding.
