A Castle Hill shoe store is stepping back this month after more than 70 years in business.
The owners of Park Hill Shoes are walking away after 73 years in business as big box stores and online retailers drastically alter the shoe-selling landscape.
"This is an old fashioned place," says Bob Koch, the owner. "We are a dinosaur."
For decades, customers have walked in, sat down and had their feet measured.
"Grandparents come and say their children bought shoes here," Koch says. "Their grandchildren bought shoes here. And you know, we are going to miss them."
Still, as the industry changes, Koch says there's no real substitute for walking in and shopping at a brick-and-mortar store.
"It's tough to leave, but it's bittersweet," he says. "It's time to do other things and move on."
