Tenants at the Patterson Houses say they haven't gotten their mail in more than a year, with about a dozen mailboxes inside the building broken and being used as trash cans. 

The center mailboxes inside the Patterson Houses have been broken for about two years, which has meant the Postal Service isn't delivering any mail to residents. 

Residents say they have made complaints to NYCHA, only to be told it was an issue for the Postal Service to handle. But the Postal Service has told residents that NYCHA is responsible, leaving tenants with nobody to fix their mailboxes. 

Patterson Houses tenant Barbara Padilla says she orders a lot of items online and that with the weather being so cold recently, it has been a headache to go all the way to the post office when she should be able to get her mail at home. 

Padilla and about a dozen of her neighbors have had to travel to the Bronx General Post Office for their mail and have had to endure long lines, with packages sometimes going missing or getting lost.

News 12 contacted NYCHA, and the agency says that the mailboxes have been damaged multiple times over the past two years. It says it has repaired the issues each time. NYCHA officials say the mailboxes will be repaired on Wednesday.
