Bronx residents walking along Broadway near Manhattan College will soon breathe a sigh of relief.

The congested area is getting a newly installed concrete pedestrian island.

This creates a shorter crossing distance for people trying to navigate the heavy traffic by Van Cortlandt Park.

Residents say the project is a long time coming.

Plans first came about in September 2015.
