Some Bronx residents say a stretch of sidewalk at the corner of Randall and Castle Hill avenues has been badly depleted for a prolonged period of time and now poses a safety threat.
They say the sidewalk has been a problem for at least six years and that it began when maintenance workers would only pick up crumbling concrete instead of making repairs.
One pedestrian says he has seen doors placed face-down over a hole in the sidewalk to take away what has become a few inch drop.
According to the New York City Department of Transportation's website, property owners are responsible for installing, repairing and maintaining sidewalks adjoining their properties under New York's administrative code.
The affected sidewalk is in front of the Kips Bay Boys and Girls Club, but News 12 is told the property is leased from the city's Housing Authority.
NYCHA told News 12, "Our staff has visited the site today, and we will work with our colleagues at DOT to fix this issue to ensure everyone can better enjoy the Boys and Girls Club."
The DOT says the location is scheduled for inspection and repair.
