Some pedestrians complain a busy stretch of White Plains Road needs a traffic light to keep people safe.
A resident said dodging cars on White Plains Road at Patterson Avenue is inevitable. Parents said they worry about cars that speed past a stop sign near I.S. 174 as children cross to get to school. Another pedestrian was concerned about inexperienced student bus drivers who practice in the area. While some believe an accident could occur, others said there's no need for a traffic light because the stretch of road isn't that congested.
Bronx Borough President Adolfo Carrión Jr. said he's looking into the possibility of adding speed bumps or speed limit signs near I.S. 174.
