Dialysis patients in the Pelham Parkway neighborhood will have to find another place to receive treatment in a few months.

U.S. Renal Care has been serving the community since 2003 and will be shutting its doors this summer. Around one dozen patients voiced their concerns about the closure at a town hall on Tuesday afternoon.

Dialysis treatment is taxing and typically requires three weekly sessions that are several hours each. The city’s website lists 41 dialysis centers across the Bronx but patients like Marie Elaisir say they’ve built relationships with their doctors that can’t just be replicated elsewhere.

Representatives from U.S. Renal Care say that they are working to switch patients to other centers in the borough and working to get their staff new jobs.
