Thinking of taking up garden, but don’t know where to begin? Chris Leishear, chief suburban farmer of
Farmburbia, has some tips to get you started and to help keep your garden growing.
1 – Essential tools – working gloves and a hand trowel to start
2 – Location – you want to make sure wherever you are growing flowers or vegetables gets at least seven to eight hours of sunlight.
3 – Care and conditions – make sure to get water on your garden or plants at least once a day, especially if it’s hot out. You also want well-drained soil, and the occasional fertilization.
4 – Remember the season – spring is usually the best time to start your garden; there are some crops you can plant in the fall though.
5 – Don’t be intimidated – There are a lot of products on the market, which can get intimidating; just buy what you need and start.
