The pause on administering Johnson & Johnson’s COVID-19 vaccine is having an impact on several neighborhood pharmacies across the city.
As News 12 has reported, the CDC and FDA recommended the pause while authorities investigate six reports of rare but serious blood clots.
Park Plaza Pharmacy is replacing the Johnson & Johnson vaccine with Moderna, but the Morris Heights drug store only has a limited supply of 100 doses -- and all of those appointments are already taken.
At the Inwood Pharmacy on Broadway, the problem isn’t that they are fully booked, but that they don’t have any Pfizer or Moderna vaccines to give out.
The city says more than 5 million doses have been administered since the vaccine rollout.
Officials say more vaccines are on the way to hard-hit neighborhoods.
