Malik Taylor, also known as Phife Dawg, of the rap group A Tribe Called Quest, has died according to the bandmate's Twitter page. He was 45 years old.
While the cause of his death has yet to be confirmed, Taylor has had health issues for years and underwent a kidney transplant in 2008 to deal with a his longtime Type 1 diabetes.
The band has not released an official statement.
