The Whalen Park playground in Bedford Park has reopened after a multimillion-dollar makeover.
Students from the Bronx Community Charter School were among the first visitors.
Community Board 7 welcomed the Parks Department's investment, which was around $2 million and overhauled what had been an outdated playground.
New features include equipment, benches, water sprinklers and seating. And now it's handicapped-accessible.
The park's name honors Henry Whalen, a decorated veteran and longtime community advocate who lived within walking distance. His family was on hand for the grand reopening.
