A man is dead and two others, including a 4-year-old girl, are hospitalized after a man allegedly went on a stabbing rampage against his own family in Bed-Stuy.
Police were called to 300 Putnam Ave. around 6:20 p.m. Sunday when a 22-year-old man had some sort of fight with his father inside an apartment.
The father asked the suspect to leave, but police say the man pulled out a machete and tried to hit his father with it.
They say the suspect ended up hitting his 4-year-old sister with the machete.
Police say the man then went into another apartment where more of his family members were and hit his 79-year-old grandfather with the machete.
The suspect’s brother-in-law tried to intervene but was slashed in the hand.
The violence stopped when a family member apparently grabbed the suspect and held him until police arrived.
News 12 is told EMS rushed the grandfather to the hospital, but he was pronounced dead.
The 49-year-old brother-in-law and the suspect’s sister were taken to the hospital and are listed in stable condition.
Police say they have arrested 22-year-old Dayquan Dubose. They say Dubose is being charged with murder, acting in a manner to injure a child under 17, assault and criminal possession of a weapon.
