Police say one person was killed and another person was injured in a shooting in Melrose on Monday.

Police say two men were shot on Elton Avenue and East 157th Street around 1:30 p.m. They say both of the victims were taken to NYC Health + Hospitals/ Lincoln.

Police say one of the men was shot in the head. They say the other victim was shot in the leg and that his injuries are not considered life threatening.

They say the shooter fled the scene in a white Mercedes. Police say they are still searching for the suspect.

Police say the victim who succumbed to his injuries has been identified as Irizarry Noel, 31, from the Bronx.
