Police: Long Beach hockey player fatally hit by car while riding skateboard

The driver of the car that struck the victim remained at the scene, and no charges have been filed.

A Long Beach hockey player was fatally struck by a car while riding his skateboard, police say.
Police say Gerrin Hagen was hit by an SUV on Cantiague Lane in Hicksville around 2:30 p.m. Thursday.
Hagen was a Nassau BOCES student.
In a statement, a Nassau BOCES spokeswoman says the crash occurred "near our Westbury facility shortly after the student's dismissal from school."
The driver of the car that struck Hagen remained at the scene, and no charges have been filed.
The league supervisor told News 12 that the next three Long Beach varsity games have been canceled.
