An apparent fight between a man and a deli worker in East New York turned deadly when police say one of them pulled out a gun.
Police tell News 12 a 34-year-old man who was working at the Rose Family Grocery Store Monday night is in police custody, and investigators are trying to verify exactly what happened.
Officers were called to the deli around 11 p.m. after getting 911 calls that someone had been shot inside of store on Glenmore Avenue at the corner of New Jersey Avenue.
Arriving officers found 25-year-old Edwin Candelario with several gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the hospital.
Police say the worker told them the victim had come back into the store to get something he left behind and got into an argument with the worker. Police say the fight escalated and the worker told them Candelario had a knife, which is when the worker apparently pulled out his gun and shot and killed the 25-year-old.
Investigators tell News 12 the worker did not have a license for the gun and is in police custody at this time. However, he has not been charged with anything yet.
