Police arrest man accused of stealing from North Merrick dry cleaner

Police say 36-year-old Jose Portillo-Sandoval broke into Jim-Jam Cleaners on Merrick Avenue through a back window

A man was arrested Monday for allegedly stealing a cash register from a dry cleaner in North Merrick.

Police say 36-year-old Jose Portillo-Sandoval broke into Jim-Jam Cleaners on Merrick Avenue through a back window at around 1:30 a.m.

When officers arrived at the scene, they say Portillo-Sandoval was walking down the block.

Police say Portillo-Sandoval is also wanted for other burglaries and had multiple warrants out for his arrest.
