A child care worker is behind bars after police say the worker allegedly shoved a 2-year-old boy's head into a table at a preschool.
Police say they were called to Little Stars Preschools on Edson Avenue in the Bronx just before noon Monday.
Authorities arrested 49-year-old Savitree Nerine while she was on-duty. She's been charged with endangering the welfare of a child.
The DOE said in a statement, "this alleged behavior is extremely concerning, and we do not condone this at any schools or contracted early childhood programs. We are in communication with the contracted early childhood program on any necessary next steps."
