A Fairfield smoke and vape shop worker is facing several charges after police say the store sold marijuana and nicotine products to underage children.
Police arrested Ali Mohamed, 20, of the Bronx, an employee of Rose Smoke & Vape on Black Rock Turnpike.
Mohamed is charged with possession with intent to sell marijuana, possession of marijuana, and two counts of sale of marijuana.
Police say over the past several months they received numerous complaints that underage children were purchasing marijuana and nicotine products from the store.
Police say through working with the Connecticut Tobacco Prevention and Enforcement Program and the state Department of Revenue Services Crime Investigation Division, they were able to confirm the underage children did purchase those items from the store.
Earlier this week, police say they seized several items of evidence, including packages of suspected marijuana and un-taxed cigarettes.
Police say more arrests are expected.
They say the shop remains open pending a review from the state Department of Labor.
News 12 reached out to the store for comment Wednesday morning, but was told the owners weren't available.
Mohamed is due in court next week.
