Police have ID’d the 97-year-old man they say died after a black Cadillac Escalade slammed into a building and pinned him underneath in Brighton Beach Wednesday.
Cellphone video shot by a witness shows bystanders helping to pull the car off the pedestrian identified as Volf Ferdman.
Police say the incident happened around 3:45 p.m. on Brighton Beach Avenue and Brighton 4th Street.
Authorities say Ferdman was sitting on a walking device when the driver mounted the curb after pulling from a parking spot. They say the 79-year-old driver remained at the scene.
Many residents of the area told News 12 there have been multiple similar incidents of cars crashing into buildings in the same place.
