Officers confirmed the driver who caused the crash in front of P.S. 81 has been identified and arrested.

Police say 65-year-old Dexter Washington lost control of his car and crashed into multiple vehicles at around 3 a.m. Wednesday.

Police say the impact was so big the car then flipped upside down and slid down the street. Washington is facing a slew of charges including reckless endangerment, motor vehicle violation for operating an unregistered vehicle and more.

No other individuals were injured but Washington is still at Jacobi Hospital in critical condition at this hour.
