Police have identified the 6-month-old baby who fell to her death from a Bronx apartment building window Thursday as Julinah Lawrence.
It happened at around 2 p.m. at 2200 Tiebout Ave. in Tremont, according to investigators.
The child's 27-year-old mother, Tenisha Fearon, is in custody in connection with the incident, according to officials.
Witnesses say the baby was dropped from a window. The child was taken to St. Barnabas Hospital, officials say.
Police say numerous 911 callers reported that a woman was holding a baby out of the window in the back of the building.
Police arrived to find the baby had been dropped. Fearon's three other children were found inside that apartment as well, and police say they are now safe.
A neighbor says he heard shouting between a woman and a man before the child's fall.
That neighbor says the incident occurred at apartment 6D.
The Health Department says that there was once a day care center run out of that same apartment. Officials say that license expired in April 2015 and that Fearon did not renew it.
