Police identified the 27-year-old man who was shot and killed Wednesday night on Alexander Avenue as John Martinez, of The Bronx, steps away from a parole office.

Police say they were called to the scene just before 6 p.m. in the middle of the after-work rush. This all happened at the intersection of Alexander Avenue and Bruckner Boulevard.

Police say when they got to the scene, they found 27-year-old Martinez shot multiple times in his torso. He was rushed to the hospital where he later died.

According to the NYPD, they are searching for four men who ran away after the shooting. If you know anything contact police at the Crime Stoppers hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS.

The Bronx District Attorney's Office confirmed to News 12 that Martinez was indicted back in 2022. He was listed as one of 20 G-Side/Drilly gang members indicted for multiple crimes including murders, non-fatal shootings and stabbings.

Sources told News 12 that this was a retaliatory gang-related shooting.
