A person claiming to be a police officer tried to rob a man early Friday morning in Allerton, according to authorities.

Investigators say the suspect approached the 35-year-old victim on 2526 Boston Rd. around 2:30 a.m. He then pulled out a knife and attempted to take the man’s cellphone.

The victim fought back and managed to retrieve his property. He is expected to be OK.

The robber remains at large.
