With tensions rising overseas, New York state is ensuring New Yorkers of faith feel safe amid the one-year anniversary and the Jewish High Holy Days.
Officials around the state are heightening security across the boroughs to ensure New Yorkers feel safe.
These precautions will extend through Yom Kippur.
Deputy Commissioner of the NYPD Counterterrorism Unit addressed the concerns for safety at home.
"The security overlay for this year's High Holy Days has been developed in close coordination with leadership from each patrol borough and every precinct, keeping resources responsive and tailored to each community's needs and concerns," said Rebecca Weiner.
Gov. Kathy Hochul ordered flags around the state to be flown at half-staff.
