Police say a knife-wielding man is in critical condition Friday night after an altercation with officers.
Police say they responded to a call about a 41-year-old man with a knife inside a home at around 6:20 p.m.
Police say the call informed them that the man was a family member and that he was hallucinating and destroying the basement.
When uniformed officers arrived at the location, they entered the home and observed the man in the basement where they proceeded to speak to the man in efforts to take him to a hospital, according to police.
Police say the 41-year-old man pulled out a knife and yelled “I’m not going back to the hospital.”
With the knife in hand, the man lunged towards officers, according to police.
Police say one of the officers deployed a Taser, striking the man, and an additional officer fired two rounds and struck the man twice.
The 41-year-old man was taken to the hospital and is in critical condition, according to police.
Police say they received a call about the same man earlier throughout the evening. They say he was transported by ambulance to the hospital but was later discharged.
