An arrest has been made after a 14-year-old and a 15-year-old boy were shot in East Harlem outside the AK houses, police say.
The NYPD have a 17-year-old boy in custody who is linked to the shooting. He is facing multiple charges including murder, attempted murder and two counts of assault.
The shooting took place on July 19 when police got a call about shots fired outside of East 128th Street near the corner of Lexington. Neighbors tell News 12 the two boys had left a convenience store down the street moments before they were shot.
That 14-year-old that was killed was later identified as a New Jersey teen named Justin Streeter.
According to the police, Streeter was shot in the head. The 15-year-old kid with him was shot in the leg. The 15-year-old is in stable condition.
Streeter lives in New Jersey, but he used to be from the Harlem area. Police say his family had just recently moved him away from the city but the night he was killed, he had spent the night at the house of the other victim.
