A man was shot and killed by police in Queens Thursday night.
NYPD officials say two officers and a sergeant were on patrol on Beach 56 Street when they entered a lobby full of men. Two men suddenly took off running, and officers chased them.
Authorities say one man was immediately arrested for narcotics, but that the second suspect ran off and was eventually caught by police. A struggle occurred and an officer shot off a round from his firearm, striking the suspect.
The man was allegedly in possession of a firearm but did not fire it. The injured man and officer were taken to a hospital. The suspect was pronounced dead at the hospital.
