Police are on the hunt for a man who attempted to rape a woman inside her apartment in Mount Eden.
Police say it happened around 9 a.m. Wednesday when a man followed the victim into her building complex.
According to officials, the 28-year-old victim was walking into her apartment along Elliot Place when the suspect pushed her up against the wall, covered her mouth and tried to pull her pants down.
Police say the victim fought back screaming for help, alerting a family member inside the apartment. Seconds later News 12 is told the family member ran to help the victim and confronted the suspect, before he ran off.
The victim suffered a minor laceration to the face.
The suspect is described as 5 feet tall and about 150 pounds with brown eyes and black hair. He was last seen wearing a black hat, white sneakers and orange pants.
Anyone with information is asked to call police.
