Authorities say a man was fatally struck by an 18-wheeler truck Monday morning in Tremont.

According to the NYPD, it happened at around 9 a.m. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene near the intersection of East 175th Street and Webster Avenue. 

Police say the scooter driver was traveling down the Cross Bronx Expressway near Jerome Avenue when he was hit by that tractor-trailer, as well as two other vehicles. 

A black minivan remained at the scene, and the tractor-trailer and other vehicle did not. The other vehicle is described as a red sedan, according to law enforcement. 

According to Vision Zero, three injuries were reported involving vehicles in the area in the past three months. 

Police have identified the victim as 18-year-old Bronx resident Anthony Joseph Ruiz.
