Community members in a Brooklyn neighborhood want safety measures to be put in place after a 20-year-old deli worker was fatally shot Tuesday night.
The Yemeni American Merchants Association say protection and support for all bodega workers are needed after a string of attacks against them.
“We are demanding that are elected officials take action,” says one community member. “Our mayor-elect also take action and put a stop to this violence.”
Police say Fadhl Moosa was shot in the head at the Flatbush bodega at 803 Flatbush Ave. News 12 is told the incident started when a gunman walked in to demand money before shooting Moosa in the head.
Mayor-elect Eric Adams appeared outside of the store Wednesday afternoon with his newly appointed NYPD commissioner, Keechant Sewell.
“This is the product of not coming together and saying how do we make sure we have the justice we deserve and the safety we need,” says Adams.
The suspect is described as a heavyset man with a dark complexion who was wearing all dark clothing at the time of the incident.
Any information regarding this incident should be called in to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477).
