A 19-year-old man is hospitalized after being stabbed in the neck and chest following a car accident in Sunset Park earlier today, police say.

The incident happened along Fourth Avenue near 61st Street at around 2 a.m.

News 12 is told a man driving a BMW got into a car accident with a group of people in a Cadillac. The two drivers exchanged information without incident, but the people in the Cadillac then followed the man in the BMW home.

Police say the two parties were arguing over some of the details when the man's son stepped in to defend his father. That's when the son was stabbed several times.

He was in critical condition at one point, but is now in stable condition.

The man's father was not harmed.

The NYPD is now searching for people responsible for the attack. They have currently closed off Fourth Avenue between 60th and 61st Street as they investigate.
