A man is fighting for his life after being struck by a car near the Cross Bronx Expressway on Sunday.

Police say the victim was crossing the street on the expressway and Ellis Avenue around 5 p.m. when he was hit in the head by the side view mirror of a van.

Officials say the man was taken to Jacobi Medical Center in critical condition.

The driver stayed on the scene.
